Ace Attorney, a series that is near and dear to my heart, finally had its next installment announced. Capcom announced that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 5 will be out for 3DS, although no release date has been set. Ace Attorney 5 will see the return of Phoenix Wright as the main character, after the mixed public reaction of Apollo Justice’s starring role. The game will take place one year after the story of Apollo Justice. New features will include 3D character models and different facial expressions of witnesses during testimonies, a la LA Noire. There will be a 15 minute playable demo during this year Tokyo’s Game Show.
Some news that doesn’t really tickle my fancy however, is the fact that Shu Takumi, the series creator, will not be involved in Ace Attorney 5, as he has his hands tied up completing Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. In addition, Capcom may not even bring over Ace Attorney 5 over to the US. Ace Attorney Investigations 2, the second game in the Miles Edgeworth spin-off, wasn’t localized for the US audience either. Hopefully, Ace Attorney 5 will eventually hit US shores and will be of the same high quality of its predecessors.
