Microsoft has announced a series of special edition chrome Xbox 360 controllers.

The controller will feature the transforming d-pad first introduced last year in the US. The chrome controllers will retail for an estimated price of $54.99 and launch in the U.S. in mid-May.

Microsoft says colour availability will vary by region. European launch details have yet to be announced. Currently for the U.S. the color availability is chrome, red, and blue. Get it? Red, white, and blue. Thanks Microsoft. Patriotic chrome controllers!
